Tips & Tricks

Some things to consider while drawing and/or painting:

Start your sketching with lighter lines.

Draw what you see. What something actually looks like might not be what you think it looks like.

Think about where the light is coming from.

There is no one way to draw/paint. You are free to experiment and find your own style.

Know when to stop. You can change or improve some of your work for forever but you probably shouldn’t.

Choose high pigmented colours. You don’t need to buy every colour. You can pick some essential colours and mix them.

Mix more paint than you plan to use.

Any smooth flat surface from plastic, porcelain, wood, glass etc. can be a paint palette. Small containers, ice cube trays, small cups etc. also works.

You don’t need to wash your palettes under water. You might use the leftover paint later or you can wipe the palette.

Paper/plastic cups, glass jars, mugs, pet bottles etc. can become paint water containers.

Don’t leave your brushes in water for too long.

Keep your materials clean, within easy reach and organized.
